Of all the qualities of music, the most indescribable is mood. Whether it be due to tonal structure, lyrical content, or just ambiance, the mood of a song is something often not constructed, but something that occurs naturally. Certain songs just have that “something is about to happen, and it’s not gonna be good” feeling to them. Here are seven of those. Note: I had written a narrative with each song setting a scene in chronological order. When I finished, I realized it sucks so I took it out. Maybe after some more editing I’ll add it back in.
Interpol – Leif Erikson
Violent Femmes – Add It Up
Leonard Cohen – The Partisan
The Antlers – Kettering
Radiohead – Exit Music (For A Film)
Echo and the Bunnymen – The Killing Moon
Leadbelly – Where Did You Sleep Last Night?

“Where Did You Sleep Last Night,” the oldest song played on college radio, haha. “What’s with all this… doom and gloom…”
I’m drinking wine and listening to all of these songs, is this a good idea?
What about ‘She’s Lost Control’ by Joy Division?
The Beginning is the End is the Beginning by The Smashing Pumpkins :]
