Top 7 Ridiculous “As Seen On TV” Music Compilations

"...'Cause tonight, you're gonna SLOW JAM!"

If you watch, or ever watched, entertainment-based cable networks on the higher numbered channels, you know what these are. They are the genre-specific music collections that are only sold through that special TV commercial offer. Although, I’m sure if you head to your nearest Costco or Sam’s Club (depending on where in the United States you reside), you can find these on the sales racks in the back of the store. I know I have.  These compilations sometimes come in the form of one minute spots, or blown-out infomercials hosted by cultural icons of that era. Here’s looking at you, David Cassidy. These are mainly sold to the nostalgic old-timers. Do they capture the feeling and emotion of a certain era or genre of music? I’m too young to know. But to me, most of them seem absurd. They may even seem ridiculous to my parents who actually listened to these songs when they were released. But for those who just can’t let those good times die, I’m sure this makes them happy. They’re just really insane mixes of guilty pleasures, and the flat-out guilty. Below are the Top 7, accompanied by a video of the guiltiest of all tracks on any collection. Though many on that specific collection could be labeled as “guiltiest”. Woof.

7. Buzz Ballads. Bush – “Glycerine”

6. Slow Jams. K-Ci & JoJo – “All My Life”

5. Flower Power: California Dreamin’. Strawberry Alarm Clock – “Incense And Peppermints”

4. Barry Williams Presents: One Hit Wonders of 70s. Vicki Lawrence – “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia”

3. Country’s Got Heart. Lonestar – “Amazed”

2. Malt Shop Memories. The Four Seasons – “Big Girls Don’t Cry”

1. Monster Ballads. Winger – “Headed For A Heartbreak”
