Come On Irene: 7 Songs For The Coming Hurricane

All of us over here on the east coast of the good ol’ US of A are bracing for impact from what is being called the biggest storm we’ve seen in the last 50 years: Hurricane Irene. List Off-er Dan Connolly is in the safety zone out in Pittsburgh now, which leaves the other 3 of us in, you guessed it, the danger zone. But I have a message for Irene:

Listen Hurricane Irene, you piece of shit, let me tell you something: you don’t scare me. Granted I’m not on the coast (as some are who have already been evacuated) and I have nothing to do on Sunday, when you are supposed to hit your hardest here anyway, but bring it on. I’m ready.

That being said, here are seven songs to soundtrack the rain and wind-pocalypse headed our way.

R.E.M. – It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Milli Vanilli – Blame It On The Rain

CCR – Who’ll Stop the Rain

Morrissey – Everyday Is Like Sunday

Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning

Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)

A.A. Bondy – Black Rain, Black Rain

I love Bruce’s version of Who’ll Stop the Rain? from The River tour bootlegs.
